Latin-American Academy

Introduction

At Latin American academy we study two main Alchemic traditions:

  1. Mesoamerican Tradition (Central American Tradition)
According to this tradition, Olmec culture (1500 BC- 300 AD) is the ancestor of all Mesoamerican traditions (such as Zapotec, Aztec, Maya, Toltec).

  2. Andean Tradition (South American Tradition)
Chavin culture (900 BC-200 AD) is the ancestor of all ancient Andean traditions in Peru and Chile.

In Alchemical terms, Mesoamerican traditions focus on improving the energy and strengthening the body. Andean traditions are directed towards gathering the energy. Primarily, both traditions are closely connected with nature and linked to the impact that the Moon has on the Earth and the power of the place, where the tradition was developed.

The Andes are very important for women. First of all, this area is situated to the South from the equator on South American continent, and hence, it has this special ‘force’ (as it is called in Latin American traditions), which exerts a beneficial influence on female energy. Most beneficial are visits every seven years because during this time the body completely renews itself. Secondly, we feel the power of the Moon differently here. Generally, a woman’s energy runs in and out like the tide, i.e. in accordance with 28-day lunar cycle. However, in the Andes, a woman’s body responds to the moon as if the tide is always coming in (i.e. the moon is waxing), that’s why the energy vessels of her body are always filling up.

Due to the ‘invisible’ yet powerful knowledge of this area, some alchemical practices become very effective here - they help us discover the true potential of our energy vessels.

In both South and North America, and specifically in Mesoamerica, the Native Indians created special techniques that helped them develop certain skills. Nowadays we call these skills ‘unusual’. However, the Native Indians never thought them to be anything unusual. They simply strengthened their certain character traits through special practices and rituals.

This is how certain sets of exercises consisting of special body positions and moves evolved, and through these sets the Native Indians were able to reach into certain depths of their consciousness. By doing this, they broadened their perception and improved their interaction with nature. This kind of interaction leads to certain internal and external life changes. The practices that reached our times can be considered unique, and they include some techniques of working with body and consciousness. They help us restore the functions that we have almost lost by detaching ourselves from our natural rhythms.

1. Indian dance and exercise techniques help our feet restore their sensitivity and ability to acquire the energy from the Earth. They also ‘link’ our feet with our abdomen – the most powerful energy centre in human body.

2. Sacral Centre activating technique. Our Sacral Centre is located in our bellybutton (Organo Sogrado). It allows us to perceive the world as widely and holistically as possible and develop our so-called action power.

3. Working with a ritual item called Bolo ball helps us develop the coordination of our movements, arrange group movements, and work with spatial trends and links.

4. In our dreams we live the same life as when we are awake, according to the Native Indians. However, in order to be conscious when we live it, we need to be ready to discover its certain features. Our dreams are not related to our sleep but they are merely the process of working in our sleep by being able to see.

When we are asleep, our body processes horizontal (trailing) energies. In order to teach the body to work while we are asleep (i.e. ‘to teach’ the body to dream), we need to get ready for it while we are awake – we need to open the energy areas and centers of our body and fill them with energy. If these centers remain open for some time and don’t get blocked, they will sooner or later build a certain ‘closed’ energy circulation in the body. This circulation will enable our energy to cleanse itself naturally and get assimilated by the body, which would improve our well-being and give us some strength by influencing our physical, mental and psychological processes. For instance, ‘Dreaming Passes’ practice is directed at steadily opening all necessary energy areas and helping us ‘to process them’. Then, after the needed energy circulation in the body is restored, it allows us not to lose our energy during sleep. The energy saved during sleep is directed towards gathering our strength and entering a new development stage in our lives.

It is a known fact that nowadays the means of interaction between people and nature are far from perfect. ‘The language’ offered by Latin American practices, i.e. ‘the language’ of deliberate interaction between people and the forces of nature, water, fire, wind and stone, has preserved its naturalness and is still ‘alive’. Anyone studying it really gets a regular ‘feedback’ from the nature. Their sincerity, their respect towards traditions and their work directed at a new development within Latin American practices allowed the Native Indians to discover their real potential and make the best use of it. We need to be as sincere as they were in order to be able to achieve the same goals.
