The seminar by INBI World founder and author Oleg Tcherner will focus on work with the muscles - The Art of Preserving the Transforming Body and internal energy work within Tui Shou (push hands) - Alchemy of Push Hands
Daoist Alchemy is a system of knowledge that guides the practitioner through a process of transformation and change. Its main objectives include the development of internal power and the refinement of energy within the body to achieve a state of ‘immortality‘. Understood simplistically, this allows one to achieve a state of harmony and balance within ourselves and with the world around us. The most recognizable forms of Daoist practice today are the inner styles of Taiji and Qi Gong, as well as the lesser know martial arts of Ba Gua and Xing Yi. This and other seminars will generally involve a combination of static and moving postures and have a strong meditative emphasis. The basics of the movements are easy to learn and each seminar is open to the beginner unless otherwise stated. All of the practices taught help to develop concentration and strength in a gentle but focused way and immediate benefits of participation included a feeling of robust health and general well being.

WORK WITH THE MUSCLES
According to Daoist tradition, the transforming body (the muscles) function as the main reservoir for accumulating and distilling the vital qi energy. Its role in Daoist Alchemy is considered of great significance due to its large volume within the physical body (up to 50% in men and 35% in women).
This practice aims to create synergy between the muscles and the rest of the body, in particular with the connecting body (the tendons) and the sustaining body (the bones). Without this, physical movements become disconnected and energy dissipates. As a result, the muscles begin to demand excessive qi energy from the blood; we loose connection with our mind and become emotionally dependant on the body. This short course will provide an introduction to a technique that allows you to reconnect the physical body of the muscles to the mind through relaxation and concentrated effort. It is an extremely rewarding and energising practice!
Alchemy of Push Hands The practice of Push Hands (Tui Shou) is generally thought of as a means for enhancing the practice of Taiji, particularly in relation to the development of skill relevant to martial application. It should also be understood however, that Push Hands can be used as an alchemical practice within its own right, to further the practitioner along the path to self-development.
This practice develops sensitivity to the body's internal state and can be used to help control the emotions, regulate the circulation of energy and improve physical balance. This seminar will seek to explore the founding principles of Push Hands, showing us how to act and react in harmony without losing our balance or 'centre', enabling us to respond with confidence and flexibility to each situation, be it of a mental, physical or emotional influence.
Previous Taiji knowledge is not necessary and the Alchemy of Push Hands will be suitable to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Benefits will include increased strength and confidence, more harmonious relations with family, friends and colleagues and a greater perception and understanding of ones place within the environment.
Since 1998 INBI World's Tui Shou team training under Oleg Cherne's supervision has taken part in numerous competitions both domestically in Russia and abroad (Europe & China), winning over 20 gold, silver and bronze medals.
